Whether you are doing yoga or not, a good pair of leggings can be as functional as they are flattering. Leggings are a great to embrace your legs for the wonderful, beautiful shape that they are. Rock them.
What could be unsafe about a pant so comfortable and versatile, you ask? Panty lines. More specifically, it’s how we are dealing with the panty lines problem.
Since yoga pants and leggings are generally–well–quite tight, many women worry about the dreaded “panty line”. Sure, there are probably more important things in the world to worry about, but a bout of panty-line woes can dominate the best of us.
To avoid this supposedly embarrassing underwear outline, many women prefer to wear thongs with their leggings. But that is a big mistake. In fact, thongs are probably the least hygienic thing to wear beneath your yoga pants.
“When the [thong] underwear hits your perineum (the patch of skin between the vagina and the anus), the thong can potentially transmit fecal bacteria from the rectum to the vaginal area causing vaginal or urinary tract infections,” explais OB/GYN Shannon Clark.
