McCartney said that there was a “delicate line” in achieving the “right kind of positioning, the right pace, the right voice” for the dress.
“The role that she’s taken on is very austere, it’s very serious and I think there’s a great weight that she has acquired through that and she takes it very seriously,” she explained. “It was the last moment that she could reflect sort of the other side to her… the joy and the human within her.”
Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy was enlisted to design the royal wedding dress that the duchess wore for the ceremony at St George’s Chapel. Was McCartney disappointed not have been part of the wedding itself, rather than just the evening?
