Lehigh Valley Yoga Festival: Learn the health connection

Yoga benefits mind, body and spirit. Learn how at the Lehigh Valley Yoga Festival, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at Moravian College.

This popular festival, which marks its fifth year, will again feature yoga sessions for all levels — from chair yoga to acroyoga, which combines yoga and acrobatics. Children’s yoga classes also have been added.

New is a panel discussion at 8:30 a.m. in keeping with the festival’s theme, “The Intersection of Yoga and Medicine.” Panelists include Dr. Raja Abbas, psychiatrist and founder of Ethos Clinics; Sudha Allitt, co-founder/teacher of Kula Kamala Foundation; Cathy Cappell, co-owner, West End Yoga, Allentown; Daniel McBride, aka Dalien, two-time Grammy nominee, professor of yoga and sacred sound shamanic therapist, and Dr. Tricia Kelly, surgical oncologist, St. Luke’s University Health Network.

Many of the sessions will address health needs including: yoga for cancer survivors, “Fascia Freedom Yoga” (to help athletes gain mobility) and yoga for back care.
