Kevin Hart Isn’t Hosting the Oscars, and Neither Is Anyone Else

Hart’s defensive reaction to the backlash — which, as viewed by many, didn’t constitute an actual apology for his earlier remarks —did little to help the situation.

Still, Ellen DeGeneres told Hart that the Academy told her, “We want him to host, whatever we can do, we would be thrilled, and he should host…We feel like maybe he misunderstood or it was handled wrong, or maybe we said the wrong thing. But we want him to host. Whatever we can do, we want him to host.”

Nominations are announced on January 22, and the ceremony takes place Sunday, February 24 — with or without Kevin Hart.
