OTSEGO COUNTY — Song of the Morning is partnering with Yoga-45 and Dr. Gary Saks of Saks Wellness to create a free immersive yoga and meditation experience in celebration of the fourth annual International Day of Yoga Thursday, June 21.
The event begins with an early morning donation-based yoga class at Yoga-45, 148 W. Main St., in downtown Gaylord. The class will be taught by guest teacher Kira Rose Harrison, an employee and resident yoga instructor at Song of the Morning.
In the evening, the event continues at the Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat located at 9607 Sturgeon Valley Road, just outside of Vanderbilt in the Pigeon River State Forest. A vegetarian meal will be served.
Dinner is followed by a meditation class. The class was designed for those who are new to meditation or those looking to deepen their meditation practice. In this half-hour presentation, Dr. Gary Saks, owner of Saks Wellness chiropractic practice, will discuss the benefits of meditation, including why meditation can be difficult and how to overcome obstacles that may prevent people from having a meaningful experience.
The evening will conclude with the uplifting practice of community kirtan (traditional devotional chanting originating in India) and a guided meditation.
