ABINGDON, Va. — What do yoga and art have in common?
Quite a lot if you ask yoga instructor Amesha Whitt.
During the second Saturday of each month, Whitt is offering “Yoga in the Galleries” at William King Museum of Art.
The hourlong sessions will be held in a different gallery each month with a program inspired by the artwork in that exhibit.
Whitt, who also is assistant director of youth education at the Abingdon museum, will kick off the new program at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, in the “Notes on the State of Virginia” exhibit.
“The exhibit by Suzanne Stryk is very nature-based and focuses on her connections to her home state Virginia,” said Whitt. “We will explore ideas of growth and expansion while remaining rooted to a deeper sense of home.”
Stryk’s mixed media work blends the natural history of a place with her own direct experiences with the environment.
